Menstrual cycle and COVID-19

At the beginning of the pandemic, there were only a handful of articles on the link between infection and menstrual cycles. Yet the menstrual cycle is critical to reproductive function...and cycles are expected to adjust in the presence of pathogens. Our team collaborated with researchers in clinical gynecology to analyze data from menstrual cycle trackers...
Through several large sample studies, we found that menstrual cycle length increased by about 1 day compared to the control group, both in the case of COVID vaccination, and in the case of COVID-19 disease. However, we also found that being sick (we cannot confirm infection) with COVID increased the risk of having heavy menstrual periods, whereas the vaccine was not associated with an increase in this risk compared to the control group.....
