I study mother-infant relationships in a wild population of mandrills, using long-term data that have been collected for over 10 years at the Mandrillus Project, located in Gabon.

I focus on the intergenerational effects of maternal adversity in early life (including maternal death and the birth of a younger, closer-in-age sibling, as well as the environment) and how maternal fitness, stress, experience, and rank translate into different maternal care and style, and their impact on offspring development, health, and fitness.
